Health and Wellness FAQs
- Students and employees are expected to monitor their health and recognize symptoms that could be consistent with Covid-19 or any other communicable illness, such as seasonal influenza or Some Covid-19 symptoms are listed below and others can be found at: http://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html
- Fever
- Chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Muscle or Body Aches
- Headache
- New Loss of Taste or Smell
- Sore Throat
- Congestion or Runny Nose
- Students and employees are required to report symptoms to Health and Wellness by phone at 334-833-4440 or by email at healthandwellness@hawks.sxwx168.net. Someone will respond to you as soon as possible.
- If you have symptoms consistent with Covid-19 or have tested positive for Covid-19 do NOT go to class or come to campus.
- Isolation is required for all individuals testing
- Please do NOT come to campus.
- Contact Health and Wellness for guidance.
- Please plan to isolate off-campus as we will not have isolation housing available.
- If you tested positive and have symptoms, the isolation period is 10 days from the start of symptoms. You may leave isolation when:
- At the end of your 10-day isolation period, on the 11th day; and
- You have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the aid of medications; and
- You are symptom-free, or your symptoms have improved greatly.
- If you become symptom/fever-free prior to the 10-day isolation period, please see below.
- If you tested positive and are asymptomatic, you may leave isolation when:
- It has been 5 days since the positive test date; and
- You have remained asymptomatic; and
- You provide a negative Covid-19 test result; and
- You must wear a face mask for an additional 5 days when around others.
The day that you test positive, if asymptomatic, or the day your symptoms begin is considered to be day 0.
- Asymptomatic (no symptoms)
- No quarantine is necessary.
- Self-monitor daily for Covid-like symptoms.
- Symptomatic (see What if I get sick)
- Quarantine from others; and
- Do not come to campus or go to class; and
- Seek Covid-19 testing; and
- Contact Health and Wellness.
- Was I within 6 feet of the person who tested positive; and did contact last for at least 15 minutes; and has the person tested positive within a 24-hour period?
- Do I live with the person who tested positive?
- Have I been in direct contact with secretions or had intimate contact with the person who tested positive?
If you said yes to any of the above within 48 hours of the person testing positive or when their symptoms began, then you are considered a close contact. - Get vaccinated and stay up-to-date on your Covid-19 vaccines.
- Covid vaccination is not required but is highly recommended.
- Wash hands frequently.
- Cover coughs and and sneezes.
- Clean and disinfect your living and working areas.
- Wear a well-fitted face mask.
- Stay 6 feet away from others when able.
